The construction industry has been facing multiple headwinds including sharply rising input costs, a constrained labour market and an increased cost of finance, as well as falling capital values and demand uncertainty in some property sectors. As a result, the pace of construction has been subdued.

The London Office Market | Q2 | 2023
Since the beginning of the year rents have risen to, typically, £135.00 per sq ft per annum (over £180.00 per sq ft on upper floors) for best in class Grade A space in prime West End (Mayfair) locations, driven up by supply-side constraints. Contrast with the City of London where rents are a more modest £75 per sq ft, and £55 per sq ft at Canary Wharf, for equivalent quality space.
