London 13 February 2014, Carter Jonas is delighted to announce that CoStar, the commercial real estate information and news provider, will be the national media sponsor for its highly anticipated cycling event this summer.
As the glare of the world’s sporting media turns to Yorkshire this July for the Grand Départ of the Tour de France, Carter Jonas is rapidly signing up cycling enthusiasts from the UK property industry to take part in its own version of the famous French event; the Yorkshire Pedalthon, which will raise funds for Yorkshire Air Ambulance and public transport charity Sustrans.
The event will take place on Thursday, 22 May, and riders will have the choice to complete either the 80 mile Yorkshire Challenge or the 40 mile Yorkshire Scenic route. Both circular routes will start and finish at Ripley Castle in North Yorkshire, with the Yorkshire Challenge riders heading into the heart of the Yorkshire Dales including the steep climb out of Wharfedale to the top of Kidstones Pass, a climb also featuring on the Tour opening day. Having completed the climb riders will descend in to spectacular Wensleydale and on to Masham where they will join the Scenic route riders at the famous brewery town before returning to Ripley Castle for a Yorkshire hog roast.
David Aspland, Carter Jonas’ head of Commercial in the northern region said: “The Pedalthon promises to be a great networking event for enthusiastic cyclists in the property industry to have some fun in the scenic Yorkshire countryside, whilst raising money for charity.”
He added: “It will also be a perfect opportunity to showcase the very best of Yorkshire produce that will be available at several fuelling stations along the way.”
Giles Newman, Managing Director, CoStar Europe, said “We are thrilled to support Carter Jonas in this endeavour. The cocktail of commercial property professionals, beautiful countryside, exercise and raising funds for two excellent causes captures the values of this industry perfectly. The team at CoStar look forward to covering the run up to the event as well as the day itself. Training has started for our riders in preparation for what promises to be a superb day. We hope the Carter Jonas Pedalthon will become a regular fixture on the property market calendar.”
The Carter Jonas Pedalthon is open to both individuals and corporate teams, with individual entry costing £150 and teams of four costing £500 each.
Other sponsors and partners include Yorkshire Post, British Cycling, Ripon Land Rover, Berwins Solicitors, Ripley Castle, Black Sheep Brewery English Heritage, Crowther Turnbull Booth, Earthmill and Heck Sausages.
