Carter Jonas’ Northampton office has two reasons to celebrate with the promotion of Ian Cattle to office head and 10 years since opening in Northamptonshire.

Ian Cattle takes over from John Henniker-Major, who joined Carter Jonas in 1993 and became Northampton’s office head in 2012 and was Carter Jonas’ chairman from 2007 to 2015. Specialising in rural property, professionally he advises institutional and private clients on all aspects of rural property issues, with particular emphasis on strategic advice, with associated professional and agency work. After 23 years with the firm, John has stepped down as office head and will continue with his rural client consultancy work.

Ian Cattle joined Carter Jonas in 2007 to head up its residential team and has assumed the office head role to continue driving forward the Northampton office. An experienced residential sales professional, Ian advises private clients in the acquisition, sale and marketing of large country houses and individual residential properties in Northamptonshire and the surrounding areas. He also advises on the marketing and sale of new homes. An experienced manager, Ian spent his early career at Countrywide.

Michael Appleton, who joined the firm from Smiths Gore in June 2014 will be responsible for the rural team, advising institutional and private clients on rural property, with an emphasis on all aspects of rural estate management.

A series of mergers and acquisitions has seen Carter Jonas expand the breadth of its operations across its residential, rural, commercial, and planning and development teams. In 2015, Carter Jonas acquired Januarys’, the development land business, based in Northampton. The Northampton office now totals 16 people covering residential, rural, planning & development, and research, and the firm has more than 700 people working from 36 offices nationwide.
