Freehold agricultural land to the north and south of Wisbech in Cambridgeshire has been sold to four Fenland farmers by Carter Jonas' Rural Team in Cambridge.
The 280 acres of productive land consisting of plots at West Walton - where nursery roses have been cultivated - and at Elm, where pumpkins, courgettes and sweet potatoes have been grown in recent seasons, were sold in 4 lots and averaged over £5,555 per acre.
The land was launched for sale last autumn, and Carter Jonas Partner, Jeremy Zeid, is pleased with such a sale being secured within such a tough economic climate.
He commented: "We’ve achieved a price which pleased all parties involved in the transaction.
"The fact that the sale was to farmers, already familiar with the local market and the quality of these plots of Fen land, gives the added satisfaction of the sale staying local."
