12 November 2014, National property consultancy Carter Jonas has sold one of Hampshire’s most remarkable properties, Minley Manor, on behalf of the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO).
The property, which came to the market due to a Ministry of Defence requirement for estate rationalisation, has been purchased by an international investor for an undisclosed amount, in excess of the guide price, following a competitive sale process.
Minley Manor was built in an imposing French chateau style in the 1850s by British architect Henry Clutton and is set in substantial grounds; the whole of which is Historic Park and Garden and comprises the Grade II* Manor and Grade II listed ancillary buildings. One of the principal features of the park is a 600m Wellingtonia tree avenue which sits to the north of the Manor house.
Emma Jewson, associate partner, Carter Jonas, said: "We were delighted to have been instructed to market this landmark property which generated interest worldwide. We received several innovative bids to transform the manor from its current military use and are confident that the chosen investor will make the very best of Minley."
