23 September 2014, Staff from the Harrogate, York and Leeds offices of national property consultancy Carter Jonas raised more than £1,100 for charity when they successfully completed the Great North Run on Sunday 7 September.
The team of six were supported by ex-colleague Tom Aylott, who discovered last year he had a massive heart defect and had to have major surgery – inspiring team Carter Jonas to take on the challenge to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation, as well as Marie Curie Cancer Care
Claire Beatson, a negotiator with the York office said: "The British Heart Foundation is a charity close to all of our hearts because of what Tom went through. It is also poignant for me as my dad had life-saving heart by-pass surgery earlier this year. It was great to have Tom there cheering us on and to be able to do our bit for the charity. In fact we enjoyed it so much that we’re already in training for next year."
The team battled through the balmy temperatures on track of 19°c to finish in an average time of 2hours 15minutes.
