On Saturday 9th July the Cambridge office turned out in force to support Cambridge Pride. Back for the first time since 2019, it was bigger than ever, with thousands of revellers enjoying the music, parade and sunshine.
Carter Jonas were a sponsor of the event with the team operating a stand, asking the community why they are proud of Cambridge. There was a large map of the city people could stick their thoughts onto. Around 300 people came to see us. Responses included:
I’m proud of my city because:
- First pride event! First time out in public!
- I can be the best me I can be!
- My school has an amazing pride club
- Of our headteacher’s rainbow shoelaces :)
- It’s where I grew up and finally I can be my true self! xx
Many responses also highlighted the quality of green spaces and the built environment, the accepting and inclusive residents, and the size of Cambridge’s LGBTQ+ community.
A particular thanks to Nick, Richard, Aoife, Emily, Olivia, Bilal, Tommy and John for their help on the day.
