National Grid UK has awarded Carter Jonas a Framework Contract in Lot 4, to provide land rights and referencing services for a five-year period with options for extensions on a direct award or mini tender basis.
Following a comprehensive assessment process, Carter Jonas has been selected to partner with National Grid in a highly collaborative "hand-in-hand" relationship as it delivers capital investment of over £7 billion upgrading existing assets and building new infrastructure to support the UK’s energy ambitions, enabling National Grid to be at the heart of the energy future and its transmission and distribution demands.
Carter Jonas will play a key role in acquiring the necessary land rights as part of a multidisciplinary project team which includes the wider National Grid business, as well as landowners and other key stakeholders externally. A variety of additional services will be provided to support access to land and compensation claims, valuation, new land rights, planning and expert witness requirements.
Giles Lister, Partner, Infrastructures, Carter Jonas, said: “The scale of National Grid’s new infrastructure workbook is the largest it has been since the 1960s and we look forward to working with its team, providing significant reinforcement to support the transformation of the energy system across the UK. Our customer-focused multi-disciplined team will build a strategic partnership and cross-organisational culture to help deliver National Grid’s ambitions for the future as it focuses on finding innovative ways to decarbonise the transmission and distribution of energy.”
Prem Gabbi, Director of UK Land and Property at National Grid, said: “Working together with our supply chain, we are embedding a results-driven culture as we strive to continue delivering for our customers and achieving our ambitious targets around net zero and the clean energy transition. We look forward to strengthening our relationship with Carter Jonas as we enable wider National Grid to keep the lights on and the energy flowing for millions of British households.”
