Carter Jonas, acting on behalf of a private landowner and the land promotor Greystoke Land, has sold a residential development site at Semington, three miles south of Melksham in Wiltshire.
Following a competitive tender process, a housing association GreenSquareAccord, was selected as the preferred bidder.
The 5.16 acre (2.09 hectare) site, which is positioned between St George’s Road and Pound Lane on the western outskirts of the village, has detailed planning consent for 26 homes, of which half will be affordable housing. The new development will include substantial amounts of public open space and, additional public footpaths / cycleways will be provided to connect to existing routes.
Steve Morris, Partner in Carter Jonas’ Bristol office, commented: “We are very pleased to have found an ideal purchaser for this site. Not only will GreenSquareAccord deliver much needed homes for the local area, but half of those will be affordable housing, providing a local home for young people and others struggling to get on the property ladder. Furthermore and unusually, a high percentage of the development site will be natural green spaces for community use, an increase in local biodiversity and the protection of a historic site.”
