This update covers exciting developments from the world of Carter Jonas, including firmwide success, a promising affiliation and graduate updates.

firmwide success

In January, we announced a solid set of financial results for the year ended 30 April 2022, recording a fee income of £81.03 million, up 15% on the previous year. Discussing these results, our Chief Executive, Mark Granger, said this performance demonstrates the resilience of our long-term business strategy, which we embarked upon in 2020, coupled with the hard work of our people and a positive response from our clients.

Mark identified our ability to adapt and pull together as one of our greatest strengths, adding that we are well placed to weather challenges, helped in no small part by our continued investment in our people. Carter Jonas currently has 97 trainees on our APC programme, including graduates and apprentices. Additionally, we have recently appointed a new head of sustainability to build on our ESG programme and establish a compelling and resilient approach to our sustainability targets and objectives.

Their expertise includes a comprehensive grasp of the motivations and day-to-day realities of our clients, enabling them to advise from a long-term point of view. As the exclusive UK affiliate of Christie’s International Real Estate, we look forward to leveraging the world-class marketing programs, its globally recognised brand and its extensive network, to offer our clients greater scale and exposure while growing our luxury business nationally.

Slightly different from previous years, the graduates have been busy preparing technical sessions to deliver to everyone on a wide range of competencies, including measuring and data management.

Insight Days

Did you catch our University or School Insight Days in February? We invited university students and school students to attend our London Head office to showcase.

EDI

Our EDI network will be meeting later this month to brainstorm events and initiatives for the upcoming 12 month. This is an exciting time for us to share ideas to help further develop our EDI goals.

We have been using RARE Contextual Recruitment System as part of our graduate and apprenticeship recruitment. It has been a great additional tool for us to establish more context to applications. The system has proved to be a positive experience which will be continuing to use with all early careers roles going forward. Finally, the HR team will be running taster days with Barnardos charity to help support young adults preparing to seek future employment.

60 second interview with Abigail Darkin, Assistant Surveyor

I studied Fashion Business and Promotion as a bachelor’s degree, and I am currently studying Real Estate as a master’s degree.

I am training to become a Rural Surveyor, so my bachelor’s degree does not necessarily relate. However, my master’s degree has prepared me for work involving valuations, property management and sales/purchases. It is also RICS accredited which enables me to sit the APC to become a Chartered Surveyor.
